Basic Bread Machine Bread

This is the bread I bake a few times a week. As you can see it is very basic. But it's tasty and gets the job done, so why fix something that's not broken?

Add to bread machine pan in order:

2 cups tepid water
1 TBSP active dry yeast
1 tsp salt
4 TBSP wheat gluten (optional but gives a much better rise)
4 cups whole wheat flour

Set bread machine for 2 lb. whole wheat loaf. When finished baking, score for slicing: 16 equal slices would be 120 calories each, 20 thin slices would be 100 calories each.

  1. I ordered a bread machine so I could make this recipe! It just came today and I am going to try it out in just a few minutes. I can't wait! I don't have the wheat gluten yet, though, so I'm hoping it turns out.

btw, this is Lea (chanelbarbie on GR) but I'm using my dh's google account.

  2. I hope it turned out well, Lea! I just saw this post now, sorry for not getting back to you sooner!

  3. Hey it's bluedaisy from GR. This is close to my homemade bread machine recipe but I'm going to try this one out and compare. It looks good!

  4. Add 2 tbsp of cinnamon and a cup of raisins and you've got some pretty kick ass cinnamon raisin bread!
